Former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo nearly came to blows during halftime of a Copa del Rey clash.
Luka Modric opened about an incident involving the pair in 2013 during his upcoming autobiography, where Mourinho criticism almost became too much for the Portuguese winger to handle.
The Croatian reveals Mourinho and Ronaldo had to be separated by the rest of the teammates after a heated conversation.
“I was surprised by Mourinho’s reaction. We were winning 2-0 in the Copa del Rey,” the Croatian says in his upcoming biography, according to Corriere dello Sport.
“Ronaldo did not chase the rivals on his throw-in and Jose was furious with Cristiano.
“The two fought for a long time on the field. After returning to the locker room at half-time, I saw Ronaldo desperate, on the verge of tears.
“He said, ‘I do my best and he continues to criticise me.’
“Mourinho came in and began to criticise the Portuguese for his responsibility during the game.
